Matt Kirkwood, Meteorlogist, WOOD TV8

A Grand Rapids native, Matt Kirkwood earned his meteorology degree at Central Michigan University - where his minor was geography. While in college he did two interships. One with the National Weather Service office in Muskegon (decommisioned) and the other at WNEM TV5 in Saginaw. That is when he decided to pursue a career in broadcasting.
His first professional job was at WPBN/WTOM in Traverse City from 1996 to 1998. Now with Storm Team 8, he anchors the Noon show weather, provides radio reports for area stations, and updates weather products at woodtv.com.
Matt first began working out in high school for sports and enjoyed it so much he continues with it today. While single up in Traverse City and with a little extra time on his hands, he decided to compete in a couple of body building competitions. He hasn't competed since and my once "six pack" abs are now "two packs", but he still trains 4-5 times a week with heavy equipment. He truly believes that working out is the fountain of youth.

Kate Rehmus, Grand Valley State University

Grand Rapids Native Kate Rehmus is a certified AFAA group fitness instructor, licensed Zumba® instructor, and certified WERQ™ instructor. The journey began for Kate in 2006 when she first discovered a dance fitness class and was instantly addicted. She has lost over 80lbs in her journey towards healthiness, but the true transformation was in how adding physical activity helped her overcome mental and emotional hardships that had kept her from living the passionate life she desired. Helping others find that joy and passion is now a thriving career! Kate teaches classes and events through her company, Live.Dance.Move, and also is a part-time professor at Grand Valley State University.
